Emilio Vicente Argento
Emilio Vicente Argento was born in 1982 in Mendoza, Argentina. The Argentine violist with an international career lives in Luxembourg and has been artistically active in Europe since 2006.
He began studying the viola at the age of 14. In 2006, he earned his music diploma with distinction from the National University of Cuyo in Argentina. He continued his studies first in Madrid at the Queen Sofía College of Music with Diemut Poppen and Nils Mönkemeyer, and later in Frankfurt am Main at the University of Music and Performing Arts with Prof. Jörg Heyer.
His artistic career has allowed him to perform in Germany, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Italy, the Vatican, Spain, England, the USA, Canada, Venezuela, Panama, Brazil, Colombia, Uruguay, and Argentina.
He has performed under the direction of Christoph von Dohnányi, Gustavo Dudamel, Christoph Eschenbach, Jaap van Zweden, Eiji Oue, Semyon Bychkov, Iván Fischer, Lior Shambadal, Carlos Miguel Prieto, Hermann Bäumer, Victor Puhl, Elihu Inbal, Gustavo Gimeno, among others.
From 2001 to 2010, he worked as a violist with the Symphony Orchestra of the National University of Cuyo in Argentina, with the Philharmonic State Orchestra Mainz from 2010 to 2013, and with the Philharmonic Orchestra of the City of Trier from 2015 to 2017.
From 2017 to 2022, he was a violist with the Luxembourg Philharmonic, and in 2023 he served as a permanent substitute section leader with the Orchestre de Chambre du Luxembourg.
Since 2024, he has been working freelance in orchestras and ensembles in Germany and Luxembourg. In addition to his musical career, he has specialized in organizing cultural events, combining his musical expertise with the planning of unique experiences for audiences.
He is also the founder and artistic director of Ensemble D’argent, which he established in 2012 to create a professional chamber music ensemble with a particular focus on European and Latin American works. In this role, he continues to shape the artistic direction, develop concert programs, and lead international projects in close collaboration with renowned musicians.
